The webinar was conducted on 25th Sepember 2020, for all three years of B.Sc. Psychology Honours.of CHRIST (Deemed to be) University, BGR campus. It focused to gain an understanding on evidence-based tricks and ideas that could help students during stressful situations in their life. The session was led by Dr. Sowmya Putturaju. She is currently freelancing as consultant psychologist, counsellor, mind-coach and visiting-faculty at different spaces to diversify interests.

The webinar commenced with a welcome speech by Dr. Akriti Srivastava and Sandra Jose of 3PSYH following which Dr. Sowmya talked about the current global scenario where public spaces have been deemed unsafe because of COVID-19. She continued by asking if the space inside our head was safe or unsafe.

The topics discussed included psychological tricks we could use to deal with our issues. differentiation between positive and wishful thinking, concepts introduced by Martin Seligman, mental flourishing and how we have moved from from a disease model of mind to a wellness model. how we could deal with failures, illusion of control etc

The resource person was extremely well-informed about the topic. She was also exceptionally approachable and answered everyone’s doubts due to which the session was a highly interactive one. Many examples and studies were quoted to highlight the session. The session concluded with a vote of thanks rendered by Sandra Jose to express our gratitude towards Dr. Sowmya Putturaju for spending her valuable time and sharing her knowledge on this topic.
